Our Mission: We are an organization
of neighbors working to promote and enhance the horse industry in Culpeper
County by establishing trails and Rights of Way in cooperation with property
owners and local government. |
The effort starts at the community level with neighbors sharing rights of way, then expanding trails to adjacent areas. The goal is to have extensive trail systems county wide. We want our local government to address horse trails and greenways so that they survive new housing subdivisions, new roads, and the breakup of farms into smaller lots. The horse industry represents 5 billion dollars of Virginia’s economy. This should be expanded, not squeezed out. We have successfully petitioned VDOT to install Horse Caution signs within the Stevensburg District. VDOT has finally recognized and addressed the safety issues of horseback riders and vehicles sharing our rural roads. So far, they have posted 12 Horse Caution signs on Maddens Tavern, Stones Mill, Edwards Shop, and Newbys Shop Roads. Club Information If you are interested in joining our group and expanding riding trails in Culpeper we would love to hear from you. Now, is a good time to join and make a difference! We have members representing all types of riding and abilities and all are welcome. If you would like to learn more please contact Gardiner Mulford CHOA President at (540) 423-9607 or email: gardiner AT mulfordrealty.com. |
