Culpeper Regional Horse Park Culpeper Heritage Horse Trail Other Equestrian Information

Culpeper County approval ~ Culpeper County approved the creation of the Culpeper Horse Park on 80 acres of land owned by the County. CHOA proposed the Park and worked with County officials establishing the guidelines for use and maintenance responsiblities.

Exisisting trails should be open for use in 2 weeks. The location is ideal, the area is pristine, the opportunity for expansion is unbelievable and connecting other exisiting trails is cake. The location will be shared as soon as parking is addressed and trails have been cleared.

CHP horse trailer parking ~ Culpeper County invisions the CHP trailer parking lot completed before 2012. See the Conceptual Equestrian Parking Area diagram.

Culpeper Horse Park MOU ~ The Culpeper Regional Horse Park Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed to and signed by both parties. You can see the Memorandum of Understanding here.

CHOA Organization- Does anyone know of any other horse organization in Virginia that has created a regional horse park on 400+ acres? What we have done in Culpeper with our advocacy, monthly ads, and consistent call for quality of life assets has been answered. Our Memorandum of Understanding with the County makes us full partners in the development and operation of the Culpeper (RegionalO Horse Park. This is no longer a come-as-you-please affair. This is a commitment CHOA must honor 365 days a year. I understand how initial enthusiasm wanes after repeated effort. But success is not guaranteed and I need everyone to work so our horse park is better and bigger 20 years from now.

Meeting w/Culpeper County Administer 7.23.11- 1. Culpeper Horse Park MOU has been finalized and should be ready for signatures next week. CHOA will be committed to providing advice, volunteer labor and funds when necessary to enhance park operations
2. A public parking lot is being planned off Carrico Mills Rd. The county is pursuing VDOT funds set aside for recreational access projects. A parking lot is only 6 months away.
3. Frank Bossio suggested a tour for the Supervisors sometime in September/October. This means the route must be cleared and mowed. A horse drawn wagon ride would be the best way to show our Supervisors the Park they created by unanimous vote. So the route must be wagon safe. We have 60 days to get things ready. It would also be fun to have CHOA members join the tour on horseback.
4. CHOA needs work crews. I challenge each of you to put your own crew together and provide me a date you can clear trails.
5. Bush hog work is needed for tour preperation and for regular maintenance.

Note: You must be an active CHOA member to participate.

One more trail- CHOA work crew opens one more trail today in the Culpeper Horse Park, 7.17.11.
